Being Uniquely Me!

Philadelphia University held the 2012 Uniquely You Summit on september 15th and 16th. UNIQUELY YOU SUMMIT has been organized to provide inadequately served adolescent girls, that wrestle with distinct challenges during their formative years – including preoccupation with their physical growth and sexuality, difficulty perceiving long-range consequences of their actions and diminished self-esteem, in Philadelphia and across the nation with experiential dialogue and outreach that aids in eliminating the perception of isolation.  By discovering the universality of their feelings and experiences, the barriers to becoming their best and most unique self are removed.

This year I was lucky enough to be a vendor for Moore! My table was stocked with flyers, brochures, even applications. My goal was to ignite the inner artist in these girls...and encourage them to apply to Moore of course.
There were a multitude of vendors at the summit. some were selling jewelry,  clothes,  food and much more. One vendor, called BrownGirlGifts, has cutest things from totes to pillows to onesies! Be sure to check them out for cute gifts!
Aside from vendors, there were workshops and seminars for the girls to take part in with special guests appearances by Bria Marie of Ethical Music, MC Lyte From BET and Beverly Bond of Black Girls Rock! Check out the Uniquely you website for more information.

Philly Phashion Phun!

Fashion has taken over Philadelphia! This week is the Philadelphia Collection and there are about 180 different events to take part in. Of course I had to get into all of the fashion action, so my week started at the South Moon Under and Philadelphia Weekly "Girls Night Out"Shopping event!
The event was hosted by the fabulous Jessie Holeva of Trend Hungry. There was food, music, free manicures, give-a-ways, fashion lovers and, of course, great fashion.

#FNO Philadelphia

I smell fashion in the air and that can only mean one thing...Its Fashion Week! Sadly, I wasn't able to hit up the big apple for my fashion finds but Philly had a few surprises up its sleeve. This year Philadelphia held its first Fashion's Night Out on September 6th and for its first year it was pretty exciting!

This is my group of friends that joined me on this night of fashion.

At the Jason Matthews Salon, there was free make overs and hair consolations. You could get bangs, pony tail, fish tail braids and so much more. They also had free favor bags with select free hair products and other special give a ways. Lets just say ill be getting my hair blow dried for free next week.

BCBG was amazing! If you went to a participating BCBG on FNO and upload a picture on Instagram #FNO #BCBG, you were entered in a "win $1,000 to spend at BCBG"!!! Sweepstakes! Good luck ladies!

Nicole Miller had a red carpet, a party in the store and a free give a way with every purchase!

St(Epps) into Fashion!

While my sister was in New York for Fashion's Night out, she just so happened to bump into someone while she was there. But this wasn't just anyone, it was Mr. Love and Basketball himself...Omar Epps! She took the time to do a fashion interview with him for my blog...thats family love right there.
Most recently Epps is known for his role in House, but he has other projects up his sleeve. Right now on iTunes is his latest film, You, Me and the Circus, so be sure to check it out! Even though he is in New York, he says that he may not be able to attend FNO due to the fact that he may not have time but, this doesn't mean he's not a fashion man. He has a flexible style/fashion personality, "I go through phases," he says, " It's about my mood, today I feel casual."( You can see his look in the video below)

One designer that he is interested in is Paul Smith. Sadly, this designer will not be showing in New York this year but he did, however, show his Spring/Summer 2013 collection in Paris on July 3rd.

The video interview is below.
